Photonic Chip Test Engineer (f/m/x)

Your mission

  • Planning, development, and execution of tests on active & passive photonic chips/wafers.
  • Characterization of devices to debug, optimize, and validate device performance.
  • Test performance specification and report preparation.
  • Experienced in Python coding, or equivalent, for test automation, including alignment of electrical & optical probes using motorized stages and control of T&M equipment.
  • Laboratory management including traceability, service, and calibration planning.
  • Active participation in photonic chip design and packaging development to ensure designs comply with rules for volume testing.
  • Communication with external suppliers, development and testing partners
  • Work in a cross-functional team where you will work closely with photonic designers, system engineers and electronic engineers.

Your profile

  • At least a Masters in Photonics, experimental Physics or an equivalent field of technical science.
  • Industry experience is a plus.
  • Experience with automated test equipment for wafer or device-level testing.
  • Experience in testing of complex electro-optical micro-systems.
  • Knowledge of electronics, optics, lasers, and integrated optics.
  • Experience with advanced measurement techniques (OSA, ESA, Oscilloscope, Microscope etc.).
  • Ability to process massive experimental data in Python, Excel, Matlab.
  • Ability to create a report/presentation of experimental results.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of ESD procedures.
  • Experience working with quality management systems, such as ISO 9001, is a plus.
  • Ability to operate in an international development team.
  • Ability to work onsite in the office in Ulm.
  • Professional working proficiency in English is mandatory.
